Dr. Silas Williams and Dr. Travis Brown at MIVA Medical's Independence, MO clinic
Why Patients Choose MIVA

You're not another form on the clipboard.

Dr. Silas Williams and Dr. Travis Brown are board-certified, fellowship-trained vascular and interventional radiologists who perform minimally invasive embolization procedures in our private, outpatient clinic in Independence, MO. Most initial consultations are conducted by Maddie Fennessey, our Nurse Practitioner — patients are also welcome to request a consultation directly with one of the physicians, depending on availability.

Every patient gets a doctor who explains the "why," not just the "what," and a care team that remembers your name on your second visit.

PersonalizedConsultation & care plan

*"Same-day" refers to the procedure itself. Your consultation and workup happen first, during a separate visit — once that's complete, the procedure is performed in a single outpatient visit with no hospital stay. MIVA Medical does not perform diagnostic imaging in-house; imaging is completed at an outside imaging center prior to treatment.

We also offer varicocele embolization, gonadal vein embolization for pelvic congestion syndrome, and kyphoplasty for spinal compression fractures.

Is embolization covered by insurance?

Most of our embolization procedures, including UFE and PAE, are FDA-approved and typically covered by insurance. Our team verifies your specific coverage before scheduling any procedure.

How long is recovery after an embolization procedure?

Because these are outpatient, catheter-based procedures rather than surgery, most patients go home the same day and return to normal activity within a few days.

Do I need a referral to see a MIVA doctor?

Not always. Many patients self-refer after researching their condition. Take one of our short quizzes to see if you're a candidate, or call our Independence, MO office directly.
